Descendants of Cain are the "brainchild" of South African producer Darryl Kruger. Darryl left his home country in 1998 and went to London with a suitcase full of instruments and songs. He was on a quest to find happiness and he wanted to leave a mark in the world of music. Destiny brought him together with his soulmatesPhillippaMooreand Iain Smith. Together they started DoC as a live project.
Their first gig as as support act for Incubus Succubus in the Camden Underworld went very well and was a huge success. A year of hard work followed and at the end they released their first album called "AtzILUTH"which they financed themselves.DoC had monthly gigs at the Club Tenebrae(London) for nearly 2 years. During that time they could work on their live performance. They also could establish a loyal fan base. DoC used this opportunity to experiment with different light and other effects to create an unforgettable atmosphere that also fitted their sound and made everything complete.
2001 was the year where DoC experimented with recording and production techniques and learned how create a unique sound. They also played with bands like Incubus Succubus, The Cruxshadows, The Faces of Sarah, Star Industry, This Burning Effigyor Passion Play. Their hard work paid out -their work was praised for itsd original sound and passion by the international music press. In 2002 the returned to the studio to record and produce their secondalbum "Briah: Of Man and Magician".It was released on 9 December the same year. After that they toured the UK with bands like The Damned or NFD(ex-Fields of the Nephilim/ Nefilim).
Darryl took a break from touring in 2003 and began to work on his solo album "Yetzirah: The Balance of Disharmonies". It was a huge project since Darryl was responsible for writing, playing the instruments, recording and producing all 12 songs on the album. In 2004 "The Book of Changes" was released and recieved amazing reviews. It also prepared the audience for ";Yetzirah" and "Assiah". In 2006 the fourth; DoC album "Assiah: Of Man and Manifestation" was released with contributions from Iain Smith, Steve Gerrard, Luc und Chris Sigliy.
In 2008 the album "The Tao Of Wisdom And Misery" was released on ECHOZONE and got raving reviews from all over the world.
After three years of work and again redefining the concept of Descendants Of Cain lyrically and musically the new album "Songs From A Vanishing World" will be released on ECHOZONE in autumn 2011. With this album Mastermind DM Kruger created a concept which is based on stories beeing told about mankind decades after a global catastrophy, which has destroyed most of our planet. And again the music has evolved even more into a kind of "progressive gothic-rock", which still has dark and hard edges, but adds many more elements to the overall sound and lyrics.
Descendants of Cain's music is a refreshing blend of genres and with a variety of styles that merge into a unique mixture of rock, metal, ambient, and orchestral music. You will recognise them when you hear them-they are truely one of a kind.

The Tao Of Wisdom And Misery
At the end of the 90s, the London Band Descendants of Cain made their mark with their first performance together with Incubus Succubus at the legendary venue Camden Underworld. Shortly after an increasing loyal fan base encouraged the band to release their debut album „Atziluth“ on their own followed by three additional albums and further fantastic live shows together with The Damned and NFD. Now the band present a fresh line-up, a new label and an awesome fifth album.
In “The Tao Of Wisdom And Misery“, mastermind Darryl “D“ Kruger holds a mirror up to mankind and points out the dualisms of the material world. The supposed wisdom of humanity in contrast to misery as a result. “D“ gets even with his own species: “It is the wisdom of this humanity to know no peace." or “You cannot buy happiness with the blood of children’s screams". The vocals vary from ambient elegies to aggressive metal. Sound collages are weaved around the voice and take the listener on a magic ride through the bright and dark realms of the human soul.
And again, DoC have produced an outstanding new album which doesn’t fit into any pigeonhole at all. The unique mix of atmospheric Goth Rock, vibrant Industrial Metal to Ambient and neoclassic elements represents the band’s originality in their music. The lyrics are far from being blatant or nebulous, but brave and to the point. That’s the sound of modern Goth Rock.
