Minusheart - History for "a big idea"

Minusheart was founded by Diver and Benden in 2007. From winter 2007 to spring 2009 Minusheart worked on their first long player ‘Disease’ which was released in october 2009 on the German label Echozone.

Artists like Monolith, Accessory or Myk Jung of The Fair Sex collaborated in the production of Minusheart’s debut. The first edition of ‘Disease’ is containing the results of these fabulous sessions. In July Minusheart shot their first short film ‘Feel No Pain’ which was directed by Robert Sukrow.

In autumn 2009 the smash hit ‘Don’t Feed The Cats’ entered the Spanish Club Charts and became a hit across Europe. In meanwhile several musicians from all over the world started remixing the songs of Minusheart. Among others America’s industrial shooting stars Alter Der Ruine and the German electro heroes Destroid dealed with the tunes of Minusheart. In Spring 2010 Echozone spread around the release of Minusheart’s limited remix album ‘Healed’. Simultaneously the band produced their low budget music clip ‘Lifespan’ according to the ‘Breathtaker Club Version’ of Mono.Sys.

Depending on the sickness of Benden it became as calm as a clock around Minusheart in summer 2010. The Band which hails from Aachen (Germany) cancelled the planned live activities. During these days some compilations (like the imposing sampler Electro Pop Vol. 2 with O.M.D., Covenant, VNV Nation, Front Line Assembly, …) keep the name ‘Minusheart’ alive.

Already on his trip through Southern Europe in summer 2009 Diver started to write on the next Minusheart album ‘The Big Idea’. In February 2011 Benden left Minusheart. The very next day Vary, who once was the mastermind of Cyme In Bloom, joined Minusheart. Yet in winter 2010/11 Diver met him for some jam sessions at the Low Noise Studios Aachen. In Spring Diver and Vary finished “The Big Idea”.

In May 2011 the Belgian ‘enfant terrible’ Wildhoney, the well-known drummer of Luc Van Acker’s RevCo World Crew, and Upstream, a talented electronic musician from Aachen, dived into Minusheart. In June Frederic Sapart directed Minusheart’s third video clip ‘Drawback’ which is also pronounced as the new single. After a Two-Years-Journey ‘The Big Idea’ will be released in October 2011.

Drawback

After a break of two years and the last remix album "Healed" Minusheart resurface impressively with a new album and the new single "Drawback" (release date: 08-26).

"Drawback" is the new single and whets a proper appetite for the upcoming second studio album "The Big Idea" being released in October.

Furthermore, there have been a lot of changes within the band: founding member Benden left the ship for personal reasons during the album production; Captain Diver now navigates together with guitarist Vary (ex Cyme In Bloom), drummer Wildhoney (RevCo, Tying Tiffany) and keyboarder Upstream towards new horizons.

Disease

“Disease“ is the first album of Minusheart. Minusheart is a project of Diver and Benden which they formed in 2007. Right from the start they knew that their music would be based on electronic sounds, emotional vocals having a tendency to unusual melodies and unusual song structures that remind you of Nitzer Ebb or Skinny Puppy.

On the CD you can find songs that could be played in the clubs (e. g. “Icehouse“, “Don’t Feed The Cats“) as well as darker songs like “Future Lies“ which is as intense as the other songs of the album. Especially this song reminds you of the classic industrial bands like Shock Therapy. “Burning Star“ - which is also the last song of the regular album - is a beautifully written melancholic electro-industrial-pop song and the perfect conclusion for the album.

The two musicians create a special sound that plays with the classic elements of electro and EBM music and is always up to date. Minusheart’s sound is pumping through the speakers with a lot of power and with all these detailed elements that make this album very unique. Dirk “Accessory“ Steyer’s mastering makes Minusheart's sound that powerful. He is also responsible for the amazing sound quality of the album.

The four bonus remixes on the album are from Fragment Machinery, Accessory, Config.Sys and Momolith. The remixes are an excellent addition to the album which already is excellent in itself. They show how much potential is in the songs, e. g. “Icehouse“ is a good example for more atmospheric industrial music or “Feel No Pain“ and “Livespan“ are great to fill every dancefloor in any EBM club.
