During their short time together The Hiram Key have been compared to Echo & The Bunnymen, The Cure, Bauhaus, The Who, The Sisters of Mercy, The Bolshoi and even David Bowie. Sound on Sound Magazine describes the sound as 'firmly rooted in the style of Bauhaus and The Cure'.
It would seem that the mainstream music press can't quite put their finger on the sound which has seen the band's first self released album go into 3 pressings in 2 months before being signed to German label Echozone. With a fully remastered commercial album release of Amerikafka on Echozone and Sony due out on October 7th 2011 The HK continue to get wide press coverage after their German tour opening for Ikon in the summer of 2011 which culminated in an appearance on a major stage at WGT 2011 alongside Ikon and Girls Under Glass.
Fronted by Ex-Nosferatu vocalist and members of 90's 'Goth Rock outfit' Killing Miranda The HK have been called 'A Goth Super-group'. Lead vocalist Gary Clarke plays this down in Gothic Magazine by stating ' I just write music I would like to listen to.' French 'Zine 'Le Chat Noir' compares The HK to French synth-pop kings Indocine by writing 'J'adore Hiram Key, Hiram Key = Anglochine.' The HK toured The USA in 2011 together with US bands Strap On Halo & Sapphire Rebellion.
